On this project, I created a complete production, staging and development environment for e-commerce and Internet catalog sites. It is composed of three tiers which have, four clustered Oracle Database Servers, four clustered ATG Dynamo/Oracle 9iAS application servers, and four clustered web servers. The environment holds twelve Sony web sites and is composed of twelve Sun Solaris Unix Systems, three Linux systems, and one Windows 2000 Server. I installed the operating systems, application servers and common software, designed the structure of the applications, databases, and their relations to the physical network. My daily tasks were system backups, database backups, file system recovery, oracle data recovery of deleted data or deleted files, shell script development, application & utility development and graphical user interface development. The purpose of the environment is to provide maximum security, speed, and reliable systems with multiple fail over systems. The primary platforms used for this project were Sun Solaris 7 Unix and HPUX 10.20. I created a Metrics application which uses and Oracle Database, Web Objects Java, Objective-C, Web Script, XML, Oracle Servlet Engine, and apache modules. The application collects web server logs from all web servers at midnight, inserts sections from each line of each log into database table columns. It then generates statistics from the data in the database tables. The web interface can be used to display graphs and data using an Internet capable interface or the data can be exported to excel readable formats, csv, or tab formats.
